Tea for tigers

Originally, the Black Oothu project tea was introduced into our range as a so-called "Tiger Tea". With every package sold, a portion was donated to the NABU tiger conservation project in the Western Ghats in southern India. This is also where the Oothu tea garden is located.

The Manjolai and Oothu tea gardens, from which our two tiger conservation project teas come, are located in the Western Ghats mountain range. The tea gardens are surrounded by one of the most important protected areas in the world, the Kalakad-Mundanthuraj Tiger Reserve. In addition to Bengal tigers, leopards, elephants, sloth bears and rare monkey species live here on 82,000 hectares.
The two project teas for the protection of the South Indian tigers were the first teas of their kind that we developed together with NABU. They combine the best tea enjoyment with nature conservation and have played an important part in the successful completion of the NABU tiger conservation project in 2018.
