On Yakushima, the fairytale island of thousand-year-old cedars, lies the Hachimanjû tea garden, characterized by a maritime and rainy climate.The relatively mild roasting lends the Hôjicha a more intact leaf structure as well as a more complex flavor profile, with subtle nuances reminiscent of cocoa and coffee.
